A Norwegian Decanter Bottle Ziratfaske, Gjovik Verk, Circa 1830 For Sale
This is a footed decanter bottle or ziratfaske made at the Norwegian glassworks Gjovik Verk circa 1830. It shows the classic intense grey tone of early Norwegian glass, and the characteristic decoration of the Gjovik glasshouse. The bottle is decorated with a vermiform collar, trailing, chains, prunts, and lily padding. The base has a rough pontil and shows appropriate age wear.There is a small piece missing from the vermiform collar and a very small, stable star crack on the shoulder near one of the prunts.
