A Pair of Large Porcelain de Paris Bottle Form Vases mounted as lamps. 19th Century. They have hand painted on the center of the lamps The Order of the Garter. This Order was founded by Edward III in 1348, King of England. Only the Sovereign, The Prince of Wales and no more than 24 people may be members of The Order of The Garter. It is the most prestigious order of Chivalry in Great Britain. The back of the lamps are decorated with a beautiful floral arrangement.
Porcelain de Paris was founded in 1773 by Jean Baptiste Locre. These pieces are among the finest produced by Porcelain de Paris. During restoration the bases were removed and the mark of Porcelain de Paris is imprinted. The bases and the top of the lamps have had the brass polished and been coated so they never have to be repolished. The lamps measure 35 inches high and are 8 inches in diameter at the widest point. They have been completely rewired. They are in Mint Condition with no chips or cracks. Truly unusual for lamps of this period.
