What you are considering an antique device many photographers would have used in their studios; a brass \"Watch the Birdie!\" whistle.A small rubber hose with a squeeze air bubble attached would have created a \"Tweedy Bird\" sound to capture the attention of the photographers\' subject, which would have come in handy, especially when photographing children. I am sure a photographer would have used this for capturing the attention of various pets too. This little photographers helper was probably used in many 19th Century American photo studios, but to find one today is nearly impossible. Here is a rare chance for you to add this photographic invention to your personal collection. I also guarantee this beautiful whistle will be a very popular conversation piece. CONDITION:Please view my detailed photos for the actual condition of this cased image and as part of my description. This antique whistle was intricately designed and constructed out of brass. I have only seen less than a handful of these in the years I have been collecting 19th Century photography and like this one, the rubber hose with the rubber squeeze bubble has long since gone missing or deteriorated due to use and/or the fragile materials used in its construction. With this said, the remainder of this rare object, is an absolute thing of beauty. The brass has an stunning patina. The only real flaws I can find are a small piece of the lower beak is missing and a few extremely tiny dents are shown in my photos, otherwise this rare photographic invention is ready to display amongst your favorite images in your personal collection.
