A Tibetan White Metal Repousse Chased Butter Lamp Candlestick 19th Century 261g
This is for an antique Tibetan white metal butter lamp candlestick, 19th century (1801-1900).
Made of white metal (silver alloy), the sides of the bowl are applied with four openwork plaques each chased to depict an auspicious symbol on a foliate engraved ground. The tapering stem is decorated in repousse with lotus leaves, engraved with foliage around the rim, and has a central knop also with chased with auspicious symbols. The interior of the bowl has a central aperture to hold a wick, used to burn yak butter. This is unmarked. The condition is generally excellent, without damage or repair, the silver has the patina of age. Please see images.
