A Very Rare 1893 S Vam-1 Morgan Silver Dollar With No Reserve & Low Start Price For Sale
For sale is a very rare but very well circulated silver 1893-S United States Liberty Head or Morgan Dollar (KM-110, 38.1 mm, 90% Ag 26.73 g,
average silver weight: .78 troy ounce) with what appear to me to be the original surfaces and struck by the US Branch Mint at San Francisco. According to VAM World there are only two die varieties of this coin, with this particular coin being a VAM-1 with the mint mark being upright and centered rather than lower and tilted right. Die markers on this coin are shown in the posted close up shots taken by my digital microscope: die scratch in the lower right cotton leaf over the bowl, two small dots in the left 'leg' of the R in LIBERTY as well as a diagonal die scratch in the center (slightly to the left) of the upper bar of the T in LIBERTY.Through manipulating the contrast and brightness settings, it appears to have another marker, that is the die scratch through the lower stems of the wheat and the left edge of the cotton leaf but to know for certain would need a much stronger microscope and perhaps even a less worn coin. I have listed this coin at a low start price and since the coin is so worn but some collectors might want to offer on it simply because they may never have a chance to buy one at a reasonable price.
