A Fine Late Ming, Reticulated, Blue And White Chinese Porcelain Tea Bowl, ~1640 For Sale
Description:A rare and fine nice quality tea bowl from the Chongzhen period, around 1640. The sides of the
bowl are cut through in delicate linglong work in between roundels decorated
with landscapes; these are particularly well painted and the blue is excellent.
Bowls of this type were recovered in the Hatcher wreck but this piece has
immaculate glaze so I doubt that it is a shipwreck piece. Typical unglazed
base.9cm /3.5 inches
diameter. See Sheaf and Kilburn, The Hatcher Porcelain Cargoes, plate 53 for an identical bowl.
