A Good Brass Mounted Microscope By J. Swift & Son, London - Early 1900s:
A good brass mounted microscope by J. Swift & Son, London - early 1900s, triple turret with 3 lenses - Swift 2/3 inch, Swift 1/6 inch and Beck 2mm, substage condenser with working iris, good mirror (minor marks on concave side), rack and pinion focussing is good as is the fine focus, good stage and clips. The instrument is generally in good, original condition, some rubbing to the brass in the contact points as would be expected but nothing horrid, the black enamel Crouch type base is in good order. The instrument started life in the Army Veterinary school and has neat engraving to such effect on the base and two of the objectives and their original brass cases. Comes in it's original mahogany fitted case with heavy brass handle on top, the case is in good order, there is a key but the lock needs a little work - a brass catch has been added to keep the door closed when necessary. A lovely and complete instrument that would be a fantastic display or usable item. May be collected free of charge from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire or sent by insured overnight courier (UK mainland) which will cost £14.50. I only send to overseas buyers if they pay for insured and tracked shipping - Europe £35.00, Rest of the World £70.00. Paypal is my preferred payment method. Please check out my other sales.
