A number of weeks ago, a section of the beautiful, old granite countertop at what is presently the Amtrak ticket counter at Chicago's Union Station was replaced due to damage. The granite section that was being removed was being thrown away. I was officially given 4 pieces of this granite (the pieces were neither taken without permission nor stolen).
