A lovely antique Victorian era very well carved wooden Black Forest model of a sitting bear holding a brass bowl.

The bear has glass eyes and quite a benign expression.

The colouration of this item is very pleasing with slight variations appropriate to his character.

The bowl could be used to hold matches or small items on a desk, perhaps even a small posy of flowers.

This item is in very good condition for its age, with, very unusually no detecable chips or cracks. There is a little very minor age wear to the wood in places (including a hairline crack running up part of his back. However, this is a natural characteristic with old wood as it drys out more over time. The crack does not affect the stability or appeal of the item.

The item measures about 4.25 inches (10.4 cm) in height.

This would a characterful addition to any desk, and, of course, ideal for any bear enthusiast.

This item probably dates from sometime around the 1890\'s to 1900\'s.
