Aafa 19th Century Watercolor Fraktur Dated, Attribution, Untouched No Reserve For Sale
Dated Watercolor or Fraktur This is a very charming, naive watercolor of birds, flowers and a tree with a birdcage on its top. Surrounding the 3 birds at the top of the tree is written: "A cage for heavenly doves". At the bottom left is a large stylized flower with "heavenly flowers" written above it, and on the right is a dove with "Father William's message bearing dove" written above it. The colors are red, green, blue and yellow. 3 1/8" x 5", 5 3/4" x 7" with the frame, which is period to the piece. The back is covered with thick paper. Written on it in pencil is "Made by Old Mr. Stone, 18?0", - it looks like 1880. Excellent condition - no stains, foxing, tears or damage of any kind. !
