This is almost identical to the one I have just sold except it has a left facing top curl....This is a beautiful vintage French gilded gesso on wood petite shelf or console shelf that would be perfect to display a cherished statue, small clock or similar confection.
Made of carved wood with gesso and finally gilding it it a rich chateau inspired piece.
The gilding is rich old gold with touches of the old red bole under layer and white gesso peeping through from below.
Made up of an array of extravagant acanthus leaf scrolls and curls it is beautifully detailed.

There are two small rings for hanging at the back.
