PLEASE READCOMPLETE DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY AND VIEW PHOTOS CLOSELY BEFORE offerDING.
Here is a very rare and very large 16"tin friction powered 1953 Packard Patrician 4 door sedan. This highly desirable piece was made by the distinguished toy maker ALPS of Japan in the mid 1950s. Any tinplate toy carlover knows how hard it is the find one of these impressive pieces. It is one of few "Holy Grail" toy cars that is on every discriminating collector's wish list. If you watch tin vehicles on at all,by nowyou've seen the very nice red Alps Packard sedan that has been posted with a Buy It Now of $10,000. Here is your chance to own a similar car at barely a fraction of that cost. Starting at only $.98 with you simply can't go wrong.
Up forsaleis awonderfully restored version of is thispreeminent tinplate toy. After massaging the body to be mirror smooth, the car was painted just as a full size car would be with primer undercoat and hand rubbed auto enamel final finish. The emerald green body has a beautiful high luster. One chip does show on drivers door window frame at back bottom corner. This can be seen in pic #13. Trim all shines brilliantly but there are some dimples and dings. Rear bumper and some trim pieces have been expertly fashioned from aluminum and polished tin. Windows have been replaced with same gauge styrene as originals. Both windows are crystal clear, void of any cracks or breaks and firmly attached. Interior has outstanding fabric designand original large metal steering wheel is still intact.Friction motor still runs like new; long, strong and smooth. Nicely treaded rubber tires are all good with no flat spots. There aretwo small tin panels missing on front and rear of chassis, but if you did not see the slots in chassis you would never know they were gone. I often wondered why these panels were installed on these cars as they seem to serve no purpose other than to possibly hide the tin connecting tabs. This magnificent pieceis by no means a perfect example but evenin restored conditionit has a commanding presence. Again, Ihave on this car and a ridiculous low starting offer. It will sell to the highest buyer. The toy is still an excellent investment piece and one not to be missed.
