AMAZING CIRCUS CDV OF A. KERPEN - 8 FT LONG BEARD - 11 YEARS OF GROWTH - 1875 RARE!!! - You are offerding on a rare early American circus side show performer named, A. Kerpen. Here he seated and poses holding his 8 feet of beard grown over a 11 year period. I am sure Kerpen was quite a sight to people back in 1875; Heck, I am pretty sure people today would be impressed by his follicle production, don\'t you? Although, this image does contain some obvious condition issues, I have never seen another CDV of Kerpen for sale anywhere. I wish all my fellow collectors of early American Circus photography or collectors of Long Beard imagery good luck winning this original side show portrait for their collection.

Although this man was most likelycalled an oddity or freak during the 19th Century we must remember he wasalsoa humanbeing who would have been limited from securing traditional employment due to his unusual physical conditions.Circus portraits like these were sold in addition to box office tickets to Sideshow performances. Members from the audience would buy these images for a dime a piece, to remember their favorite performers or oddities from their visit to the circus.

CONDITION:Please view my highly detailed photos for the actual condition and as part of my description. The San Francisco photographers backmark is seen on the back of this mount. The CDV has multiple creases, is trimmed at the top and has a single pinhole at the top center.The photo remains crisp, with nice contrast and tonal range. There are a few minor stains on the backside of the mount. The frontside has the printed name and description at the bottom of the mount.
