Up for sale with is a truly beautiful Large Antique English Silver Plate Dome Top Butter Dish, complete with the original insert. This beauty is top quality made by the very fine English firm of Haddon Plate. The Dish is very fancy with great finely Etched designs of Flowers and Scrolls to the lid and cast designs of Grape Clusters and Vines with Pierced work all around the top of the base dish. The detail in the patterns is amazing, one of the finest examples I have sold in a very long time. The Dish is also in superb all original condition, with only the tiniest signs of wear. The Butter Dish is an impressive size for display or use with a large family, measuring 9-3/4\" across the top of the base dish and standing 5-3/4\" tall. The Insert inside measures 6\" across and it was designed to have ice water put underneath so your butter would not melt on even the hottest days, but you could also add hot water if you wanted to keep whatever you are serving nice and piping hot. These are always very popular and this is a beauty !
