An Exceptional ,Extremely Early ,South East Pennsylvania, Freestanding, Ratcheted Rush Light ,In Outstanding Overall Condition. It is 100% Pure Primitive American Folk Art , From It's Chip Carved Decorated base ,To it's Graceful Upright Ratchet ,and Hand Wrought Iron Rush Holder !!! This is one of the finest Examples of an Early lighting Piece that you'll ever have a chance to own !!! It is still in working condition, and needs nothing. It has NO restorations of any kind. The Ratchet ,and Clasp are still working ,and are Hand Worn Smooth. The Woods are Chestnut, Oak and Cherry. The Twig seen in the Jaws is where the Rush would be placed ,then Lit . This would be used Standing By a Chair or Table. It's height varies from 39 1/4" to about 47" Fully Ratcheted. These period examples are impossible to find ,these Days.
