It was Entirely Hand Carved and Formed , using Simple Tools of the Day ,and it must have taken Months to Complete !!! It was Not Turned on any kind of Lathe ,and No Metal Cutting Tools were used in it's making. It has an Irregular Shape ,and the Surface is Beautifully Hand Worn Smooth, and it has a Wonderful, Warm Patina. The Burled Tree Knot that it was made out of must have been easily 200 Pounds in weight. The Grain is just how I like to see them,Thousands of Tint ,Close " Eyes", and a natural flaw in 2 places. If you Collect American Ashwood Burl, It doesn't get any better that this !!! It has NO restorations of any kind, and it measures 14 1/2" - 14/3/4" in Dia. ( Oval ) x about 4" deep. 100% Pure American Ashwood Burled Bowls are becoming impossible to find ,and this is one of the Finest Hand made Examples you'll ever see.
