This sale is for a superb, 18th or early 19th century Chinese carved yellow jade snuff bottle. This antique bottle has a beautiful, finely rounded oval form. It is perfectly shaped and has a very well carved design of 2 roosters on the front. The bottle is so well hollowed you can see light thru it. It truly shows off the translucency of the jade. The color is yellow jade with a well fitting (original) white jade top. The base/footrimis very nicely carved. The entire bottle has a lustrous, fine old hand polished finish. The bottle measures 6.8 cm. to the top of the stopper andis in excellent condition with no breaks, cracks,or repairs. The spoon is absent from the stopper. There area fewnibbles on the outer rim of thestopper and on the mouth's inner and outer rims commensurate with age(see photos). There is some residual snuff inside the upper portion of the bottle, making the neck of the bottle look a bit grey in the photos. It is actually the snuff showing through the well hollowed side of this lovely bottle.

We received a request to photograph the interior lip of the snuff bottle to show its thickness. Upon doing so, wediscovered a fissure/inclusion on the inside wall of the bottle's opening which shows in the photo below.
