ANTIQUE (1859) T & R BOOTE - RARE “ATLANTIC SHAPE” WHITE IRONSTONE SOUP TUREEN with ARTICHOKE FINIAL on LID - England
The “ATLANTIC SHAPE” is RARELY found in the USA. It is thought that due to the time of its production it would have coincided with the American Civil War and the imports to markets at that time would have been affected.
ITEM: WHITE IRONSTONE SOUP TUREEN - "ATLANTIC SHAPE" PATTERN
PATTERN: THIS PATTERN IS CALLED THE ATLANTIC PATTERN, “B” that was first registered March 21, 1859. It was subsequently registered four times after that possibly for other forms.
MAKER: T & R BOOTE (1842-1906)
MARKS: T & R BOOTE, MARKED CLEARLY on the INSIDE of the COVER and UNDERSIDE of BASE
The stamped mark on the bottom is circular with the words T. R. BOOTE imprinted into the inner to rim of the circle and the words ATLANTIC SHAPE around the bottom inner circle that is opened at the middle between the words Atlantic and Shape with a “belt” that flaps over, forming an arrow-like tab pointing downward. In the center of the stamp is modified diamond-shape with the letter “R” the prominent letter in the center flanked by the letters, H on the left point, the number 5 on the bottom point, the number 22 on the right point and a combination of the Roman Numeral IV above the letter B.
