Antique very rare 18th Century Cast Solid Silver pair of tapersticks. Tapersticks were designed to hold a taper or thin candles used to melt sealing wax at a writing desk, light a tobacco pipe or provide illumination. Taperstick of this period in a pairs are extremely rare to find. Both hallmarked English Silver, London, year 1741 (f), Maker JG (James Gould, specialist candlestick maker).
