Antique 1904-05 Russo-japan War Victory Tetsubin Water Kettle Army Navy Tea Pot For Sale
This is a beautiful antique (approx. 108 years old) Japanese tetsubin that was made to commemorate Japan's victory over Russia during the 1904-1905 Russo-Japan War. One side is decorated with rising sun flags in front of the GAISEN KINEN NO MON (The Triumphant Return Gate, aka Arc de Triomphe). And it reads MEIJI 37-8 NEN (1904-1905) and SENEKI KINEN (Battle Commemoration). The other side is decorated with what looks to be a poem and the maker's mark inside an artillery shell. The condition is about perfect, just some surface rust on the inside. There really is no damage at all. It measures approx. 8.5 inches from the bottom to the top of the handle. The circumference of the body is approx. 20 inches. It weighs 2.56 pounds (1165 grams). Shipping weight will be approx. 3.25 pounds.
