A Heavy Purse. All Silver. In Scarce Like New Condition! All The Links Are Present And In Place. No Snags or Bends!

Carter is widely known for their silver finery. Especially in 'smalls' like match safes (vestas), etui's and the like. And as we see here; ladies vanity items

Rescued from storage after a hundred and ten years... Apparantly never used, according to the owner and... the condition verifies that. Through the years we've sold dozens and dozens of all manner of purses. From Hand sewn Austrian petit point to 1920's Whiting purses of all sorts. This piece is in the best condition and it's older than all of the aforementioned.

The frame is of particularly fine craftsmanship. Painstakingly hand engraved in a combination of a bright-cut technique and then chased with hundreds of grooves to offer depth and realism to the design. After which it was hand pierced (coped) with Chrysanthemums... maybe Peony... and the triangular leaves of Elephant Ears. Please see the details of this wonderful frame further below.

Please note the dual interior compartments. A nice quality functional feature usually not seen in sterling purses.

It measures approx. 6 3/4" x 6 3/4". Weighs 11 ounces.
