Antique 19th Century Figural Needlepoint Tapestry Woolwork Sampler Pillow 23x 24:
ANTIQUE 19TH C FIGURAL NEEDLEPOINT TAPESTRY WOOLWORK PILLOW 23x24
This is an antique (late 19th century) hand stitched wool needlepoint tapestry (originally on a chair) turned into a charming one of a kind pillow. The needlepoint depicts a gentleman holding his ladies hand after picking her a flower. Both people are done completely in micro petitpoint. The needlepoint area is in perfect condition however there are a few issues with the petitpoint area. The mans shirt and his left leg have been repaired by me and I see a small area of the dress that shows some wear, which I hadn’t noticed when I was making the other repairs (please see photos). The needlepoint area alone measures approx. 18” x 19”. I just love the warm colors on this piece; red, blue, carmel, rust, green and more on a dark brown background.
It’s on a dark brown mohair velvet. It’s finished off with a multi colored double tassel trim. The back is done in a cappuccino chenille. The pillow measures approx 23” x 24” filled. There is a down and feather insert for a plush look and feel. The entire pillow is lined for extra durability. There is a zipper at the bottom for your convenience. The pillow is in newly created condition combining the old (needlepoint tapestry) with the new (all the other elements). It comes from a smoke free home. Please check out my store for lots more pillows and related items.
International buyers may purchase this pillow without the insert. Please contact me in advance and I will make the necessary adjustment in the price.
