ANTIQUE 19thC VICTORIAN SOLID SILVER & GLASS WINE CLARET JUG, SHEFFIELD c.1873 Description
Antique 19th Century Victorian Solid Silver & Cut Glass very large Wine Claret jug, cut-glass tapering body, the silver mount is bright-cut engraved with grapes and wine related subjects, one side features three young Bacchus drinking wine and the other bears a Masonic inscription: "Presented by the Brethren of No 15 Masonic Lodge to Thomas H. Marmion, Their late secretary Skibbereen 5877". Beaded borders and Bacchus mask's spout, the handle is formed as a grapevine branch. The hinged lid is also beautifully hand engraved with grapes and has a scroll thumb-piece. Hallmarked English Silver (925 standard), Sheffield, year 1873 (F), Maker's mark WSGS (William & George Sissons).
In Great Condition - no damage, just general wear.
