Grapefruit Moon Gallery just purchased a large collection of candy
boxes and advertising rarities from an advanced collector that had been
gathering these for the past 35 years at shows and more recently on the
internet. He had never sold any examples from his collection until we
visited for a recent 3 day trip. We ended up purchasing nearly 1000
boxes; some paper, some tin and some gesso'ed wood We will be selling
this whole collection exclusively on our site over the coming 24
months! Some amazing and exceedingly scare examples of Antique
Advertising Americana - we were really impressed with this collection
and hope you too will find these rare examples sensational ~~ITEM : You are
offerding on a beautiful antique circa 1915 chocolate candy box. A rare old box, with colorful graphics depicting a young pretty Victorian cowgirl beauty by J. Knowles Hare Jr. (image dated 1910). A fine early example of a pretty maiden adorned candy boxes. Interior box has a hand written description, as this was a 1st place prize back in 1915! These
old candy boxes are scarce today because they were of course typically
thrown out when the contents were consumed. A great amount of detail and
work went into the manufacture of these old advertising Americana boxes
as seen in this stellar example.Measures just under 4 1/2" by 7 1/2" - standing about 1/2" tall

CONDITION: A great old original antique chocolate candy box - This 100
year old surviving artifact is in very good condition with scattered spots of soiling, minimal edge wear, and the inside cover has been archivally taped to prevent further wear -- A beautiful old and rare coveted box that
