This listing is for a vintage genuine rock crystalpendant referred to as \"Pools of Light\" attached to an antique sterling chain. The lovely chain from the Art Nouveau period is made of sterling silver and features ornate individuals links with a flowing scrolled design indicative of the jewelry styles from this period. The quartz sphere is a nice large size caged in a simple heavy sterling silver bale.The orb isneither drilled nor etched so itmoves freely within the wire cage. Though the setting appears unsecuredin design,it is actually tension set around the sphere holding it firmly in place. With theflood of reproduction and misrepresentation of\"pools of light\" jewelry on ,I would like to note that while the chain is authentic of theArt Nouveau period, the pools of light pendantdates to a modernisticperiod. The two look beautiful together. This necklace has been in my own collection for nearly 10 years. I love the combination of styles a periods and have received many compliments when wearing it. I have a couple other pools necklaces in my collection from the early 1900\'s but do not wear them as often asI used to. The orb has been tested with a gem tester andis guaranteed to be natural quartz crystal (also known as rock crystal) as glass orbs produce the same refractive illusion, showing images upside-down and in reverse. It is the spherical shape thatcreates thisunique illusion.

Chain measures 18 1/2\" and the pendant measures The crystal orb measures 7/8\" in diameter, nearly 1\". The chain is hallmarked \"sterling\" on the clasp, but thereare no hallmarks on the pendant. the silver has been tested and is guaranteed to be sterling.Very nice overall condition with no chips, cracks or fractures to the crystal. There are a few faint surface scratches and abrasions from age and wear, however, these are only visible with magnification. There are also faint inclusions in the crystal that are customary of quartz. Overall, the crystal is very clear.
