Here we have an estate fresh, Antique Circa 1903 Stoneware Crock NORTH CAROLINA Whiskey Jug by I. C. Shore & Co. Distillers, Rectifiers and Shippers of Pure Whiskey, Shore, N.C. I understand this is one of the most desirable maker names of the Mid-Atlantic whiskey producing region. Jug is 16 1/2-inches tall and 10-inches across and is marked, "3" for its 3 gallon capacity. Weight is 12-pounds. The information on the jug and lines are in lovely cobalt blue and contrast beautifully against the jug's gray color. An old cork is still present, hard fast stuck in the opening so I left it for "character." The only issue I can see, not bad, but worth mentioning, is a surface age hairline crack and I've put up photos to show it. The jug is very sound, in my humble opinion, and can be easily picked up by the handle and shook if desired, despite the hairline. There are no chips, no other imperfections that I can see. 3 gallons is a perfect size for display, not too small, and not too large, just the right size.
