ANTIQUE CIRCA 1770S REVOLUTIONARY WAR ERA WOOD RUNDLET CANTEEN WITH PROVENANCE NOTES & ORIGINAL RED PAINT.
THE NOTES ARE SOMEWHAT DIFFICULT TO READ AS THEY HAVE FADED OVER TIME. WHAT I CAN MAKE OUT IS THAT IT WAS MADE IN STRAFFORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE AND THAT IT WAS PRESENTED TO NORMAN G. CARR AS A Christmas PRESENT ON DECEMBER 25TH 1893.
THE PIECE IS OVERALL IN GOOD CONDITION WITH SOME MINOR WEAR FROM AGE. THE MOST AREA OF WEAR IS AROUND THE HOLE WHERE IT LOOKS LIKE A MOUSE CHEWED AWAY AT IT.
GREAT OVOID SHAPE WHICH IS WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE FOR THE EARLY CANTEENS.
IT IS ALWAY RARE TO FIND THESE ITEMS FROM THIS PERIOD WITH ANY NOTES OF PROVENANCE!
MEASURES 6.5 INCHES LONG, AROUND 5 INCHES BOTTOM TO TOP, AND AROUND 4.5 INCHES WIDE.
OTHER ER response: "Just wanted to say it really made my day to see this plate turn out to be exactly as nice as you described it in your listing and when you answered my questions. I seldom get a item that is better than expected and this is one of those rare occasions. Thank you so very much for making it possible for me to display this and everytime it's viewed there will be a smile. I could not have asked for a better item or seller and definitely will put you in my favorite sellers category and look in often. Many, many thanks for everything and I do appreciate all you have done from the great packaging job to the great communication and everything in between. Best regards and with graditude - loumatt222"
