THIS IS A VERY INTERESTING HORN. I BELIEVE IT AS A VERY GOOD POSSIBLITY OF BEING SURCHARGED "US" AS THE CONTINENTAL ARMY DID DURING THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR TO SHOW ARMY OWNERSHIP.

THE LAST PHOTOGRAPH SHOWS A SURCHARGED MUSKET LOCK (NOT INCLUDED IN THIS SALE) BUT IS BEING USED TO HELP SHOW THE SHAPE OF THE "U" IN THE LOCK AND PARTLY BRANDED STILL IN THE WOOD PLUG. THE PLUG DOES SHOW SOME WEAR OVER THE YEARS AND IF THE BRAND WAS SOMEWHAT LIGHT, IT COULD RESULT IN IT BEING WORN DOWN.

I HAVE A FEW SURCHARGED ITEMS IN MY OWN COLLECTION AND I WAS COMFORTABLE PURCHASING THIS. PLEASE USE YOUR OWN JUDGEMENT AS FAR AS THE SURCHARGE GOES.
