I foundthese two pieces of history at an estate sale.I was told that both came from Denmark however the cannonball is clearlymarked GERMANY. My research tells me that in many instancesthroughout history that implements other than the common handled pestle were oftenused with a mortar.

The mortaris rusty and weighs 5 pounds. It is 5”high, 5 1/2” across the top and 5” across the base. The cannonball weighs 2pounds and measures 2 ½” in diameter, it has engraved on one side with GERMANY. There is no damage to either piece with no holes or breaks in the mortar.These would be a great addition to any collection
