Antique Cutglass/silverplate Castor/decanter Set~james Deakin & Sons Sheffield For Sale
For your offerding consideration I have this
exquisite JD & S (James Deakin and Sons of Sheffield 1871-1939) Silver Plated Castor/Decanter Condiment Set, with
4 Cut Glass Rare "Harvard Pattern" Decanters. Made in the early 1900's this beauty is in near
mint condition with only a couple small flaws. The decanters are made of
beautiful, clear, cut glass , and two are topped with round multi-faceted stoppers, they are both 6 1/2" tall. The other two decanters have silver plate tops, one is 6 1/2" tall and the other is 5 1/2" tall, with a flip up top and a cut out for a spoon. The other perhaps is for salt or pepper, as it has small half moon design cut outs. The condition of the decanters are generally good with only one stopper having a tiny flea on the bottom side. There is 1 small chip along the bottom of one decanter, and two small surface chips on the bottom of another, but they are tiny and relatively
insignificant and do not
effect these pieces in any noticeable way. The bottoms have a smooth clear glass finish with a
few minor wear scratches. The silver plate caddy is simple with a modernistic look, and free from
defects. It measures 5" square with 4 rounded ball feet. I did a bit of polishing on the caddy and tops of two of the jars, as these pieces were very tarnished. With that being done, this set looks like new. It is a well made and rare piece with minimal flaws.Thanks for viewing.
