Antique Dated 1872 Worcester Royal Porcelain Heron Plate Richard Briggs Boston:
Offering this rare Heron pattern platemanufactured May 1867 by The Worcester Royal Porcelain Co., England. This is a 10 3/8 inch diameter porcelaindinner plate decorated with hand painted appliedtransfer of a flying heron trimmed in metallic gold and colorful flora pattern. The bottom bares the Richard Briggs retailer stampover the standard Royal Worcester mark. The "C"in the center of this stamped mark was used from 1862 to 1875. The impressed Worcester Royal Porcelain Co. mark is also present. From 1867 a system of dating by year letters was used. The upper case G as seen impressedon the bottom of this plate, represents 1872 and the 5, the month of May. This piece is in excellent condition. There are a couple of light, hard to see utensil marks and the edge of the rim shows light glazerub. There are no chips, cracks or
