ANTIQUE ENGLISH GEORGIAN PERIOD GOLD & SILVER PASTE SEPIA MOURNING BROOCH c1790:

An antique English, 9 carat gold (tests thereabouts) backed & silver fronted brooch or pendant; set with a row of foiled clear pastes around a glass holding a hand painted sepia mourning miniature, depicting a weeping maiden and reading \'Not Lost But Gone Before\', with a skull & crossbones to the base.

High quality, very collectable & extremely wearable!

CONDITION: All original and very good. Slightest signs of wear commensurate with age and use. Pin itself and clasp old replacements, some old solder visible. Some expected foil deterioration, some fading to miniature- possibly an old marriage, see pictures.

DATE/MARKS: Around 1780/90. Not marked.

DIMENSIONS:34 x 21mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.

WEIGHT: Approx. 6.8grams.
