A fine quality antique pair of folding orgnettes, reading or Opera glasses with rolled gold or gold filled frames ( impressed FILLED 1/20 ) and faux tortoiseshell handle. They have a maximum length of 5.25 in ( 133 mm) excluding larger suspension ring and each of the circular lenses has a diameter of 1.45 in ( 37 mm). The lorgnettes have a spring loaded release mechanism which is activated by pushing the button at the top of the handle in a downwards direction. When the glasses are released, they have a maximum width of 3.8 in ( 97 mm). The handle also has lovely detailed ornate pierced, scroll and beaded decoration. The lorgnettes are in very good condition with no damage and would make a lovely and impressive accessory for a Special occasion etc..
