Up for your consideration in this listing is a fine late 19th century Victorian carved cameo set in a 18 karat yellow gold frame.
This is a very pretty and exceptionally carved example. The cameo measures 1 1/2 inches by 1 1/8 inches or 38 by 30 mm. This piece can be used either as a pendant on a chain or a pin. It has both a pin with safety clip and a hinged loop for putting a chain through.
As you cab see by the photographs the carving shows a Belle Epoch young woman wearing her hair up in and in long spiral curls. The yellow gold surrounding frame was hand made for this cameo and is simple and elegant.
The cameo frame is marked "18K". I have also tested the metal and it is all 18 karat. The cameo weighs 5.2 pennyweights or 8.2 grams.
Both the gold work and the cameo itself are in excellent condition and ready to wear.
