Antique George Woodhead Barlow Knife, very Old:
$178

THIS IS A TRUE ANTIQUE AS GEORGE WOODHEAD STARTED MAKING KNIVES AT 36 HOWARD STREET IN SHEFFIELD, ENGLAND IN 1849 AND QUIT STAMPING HIS KNIVESG. WOODHEAD SHEFFIELD WARRANTED WHEN HIS SON JOINED HIM IN 1876 AND THEN THEY STAMPED THEM G.WOODHEAD AND SONS UNTIL THE EARLY 1880'S WHEN THEY WENT OUT OF BUSINESS. DURING THE CIVIL WAR HE MADE BOWIE KNIVES FOR THE SOLDIERS; PROBABLY UNION AND CONFEDERATE, BUT DO NOT KNOW IF THEY MADE THEM FOR BOTH SIDES. HE MADE SOME POCKET KNIVES AND THIS IS ONE OF THEM. IT LOOKS NICE AND THE BLADE STILL SNAPS. IT IS 3-1/2" CLOSED AND 6-1/8" WITH BLADE EXTENDED.
