This is a rare gilded Austrian Bronze German wood cutter Gnome figure/sculpture. Believe it is c.1870-1900. Original patina, has not been polished. Miniature Gnome figure is beautifully rendered with great detail. On base with what appears to be some form of plaster interior and has had felt pads placed below by previous owner. Does not appear to be signed but may be there and have no found. Approximately 4 and 1/2 inches long, this is a perfect desk piece to accompany a bronze desk set of the period. Gnome figure is separately created work that artist then attached to base beautiful and heavy work. Gnomes are a highly collectible category of decorative arts, particularly from Germany and Austria.
