This isa superb antique hallmarked solid sterling silver hip flask with removable cup measuring 6" (15 cms) tall x 3 1/2" (9 cms) across and hallmarked for London 1896 with the silversmiths mark for Sampson, Mordan & Co. This lovely flask is engraved on the front '76, Wing-Commander D.C.Smith DSODFC from the Crew, Frank Hart, Steve Palmer, Ron Kirkwood, Pete Harris, Red Thompson, Geoff Cranswick' and the back is engraved with his missions '26.1.43 Lille, 11.3.43 Stuttgart, 12.3.43 Essen, 26.3.43 Berlin, 27.3.43 Berlin, 3.4.43 Essen, 4.4.43 Kiel, 20.4.43 Stettin, 12.5.43 Duisburg, 13.5.43 Bochum, 11.6.43 Dusseldorf, 12.6.43, Bochum, 12.7.43 Aachen, 15.7.43 Montbeliard, 13.8.43 Milan, 16.9.43 Kassel, 11.11.43, Cannes, 18.1..43 Mannheim'. It's in superb condition and has polished up very well with just a few light surface marks that you would expect to see. It weighs 261.4 grams, it's watertight and is perfectly usable -please see photos and email if you have any queries - all questions will be answered between 9am and 6pm UK time.
