This is an antique Kogo(incense container)from the late Taisho era (c.1925). It is made of a high fire ceramic with hand painted designs of chrysanthemum, a chidori bird and Japanese character, Fuku (happiness).

Kogo were an essential implement in chado (tea ceremony) used to hold special incense. Today it would make a great pill box or storage for earrings or any smallspecialitems.

It is hand thrown and hand painted . Having been in storage for nearly a century, this kogo remains invery finecondition. It measures 2\" (5 cm) in diameter.
