Antique Persian Tribal Varamin Mafrash Panel With Archetype Sarik Turkmen Gul For Sale
ANTIQUE VARAMIN MAFRASH PANEL, Northcentral Persian tribal, probably a product of the Osanlu Turks, Circa: 1900, and coming in excellent overall condition for the collector. The exact size is: 1'-6" x 3'-7" (46 x109 cm). This weaving is the front panel to a mafrash bedding storage bag. The open indigo blue field exhibits a single Turkoman chuval gul, similar to that used by the Sarik Turkmen, and flanked on both sides by a mirror image grouping of 8-pointed stars. The "calyx and leaf" ivory border surround nicely frames the field composition. Thismafrash panelis symmetrically knotted and all wool in construction with natural brown wool for the warps and wefts. The dyes lots are all natural and derived from plant sources. The condition of this lovely antique weaving is quite excellent with full, fat, thick, soft and silkypile (see photo # 11). There is one repaired small slit area on the bottom right corner (see photo # 9). The bottom end is sewn secure to prevent any future loss of structure. The top ending and the side cord over-castings are all original and complete (see photo # 10).The item is clean and collection ready, but another hand washing will improve in appearance evn more.
