Antique Primitive Southern African American Black Woman W Fan Portrait Painting :
Vintage antique oil painting of a southern african-american black woman holding a fan, in a brightly colored skirt and peach colored rag turban. Inspite of it's darkened patina, rusty nails, and torn canvas (lower right corner and just to the left of that - can be repaired or tacked down *see pic4) the painting is very pretty. She is dressed in a brightly colored skirt and contrasting bright white blouse, the day seems hot, the woman appears to be quietly observing. The color variation and richness of paint and color combined with the darkened agedness of the canvas gives quality to the paintings presentation. It is signed by artist, cannot decifer, appears to be "Jody D". The canvas is stretched and nailed over a heavier wood Devoe frame (early 1900-20's art/painting suppliesChicago and New York). There are prelimanary sketches on the back. Wired and ready to hang/frame, it measures 21" long x 16" across.
