Antique Russian Silver Plate Straining Ladle / Tea Strainer Alexander Kach:
This substantial ladle could have been used as a straining ladle or a a tea strainer.It is heavy for its size, and the base metal appears to be copper or an alloy containing a large percentage of copper.The plate is of excellent quality "90" being the old German standard for electroplated cutlery. (An explanation can be found in the website "925 - 1000 Number Marks on Continental Silverplate")The ladle has acquired a characteristic antique patina.There is a little plate wear to the bowl and to the base of the handle.The circumference of the bowl is a bit out of true.The full length is 15.5 cm (6 in). The length from the tip of the handle to the base of the bowl is 14 cm.The bowl itself is 5.5 cm in diameter and 2.5 cm deep.
