This lot of antique documents and reciepts are from the ship "Winona" and date from the 1870's. Captain William Graves of Newburyport wasone time master and primary owner of the "Winona". Graves was also part owner in several other ships including the ship "Castillian" and the ship "Valent". Graves was a sucessful Newburyport merchant who became president of the Bartlett Steam Mills and a director of the Merchant's National Bank. These documents include a hand written fourteen page "protest" document from Florida, the insurance document for the ship "Winona", an 1877 accoubnt to the owners of the ship "Winona" signed by Captain George Bray, an 1876 French ship-broker document, an 1875 portage bill from Boston and several hand written receipts from Liverpool. All the documenmts and recipts pictured (fourteen in all) are included in this lot. Very good condition! !
