Antique Silver Plated Melon Shaped Tea Pot Kiwi Finial By Shaw & Fisher C.1850s:
A lovely looking melon shaped antique Silver plated tea pot made by Shaw and Fisher c. 1800s
It has an interesting lid finial in the form of a KIWI bird with leaf work - the main body and the lid are highly decorated with embossed floral work. It has a cast handle and four cast feet
To the base is stamped the maker's name SHAW & FISHER SHEFFIELD 1436

James Shaw & Fisher were active at Norfolk Place and Killham Works 39-43 Suffolk Rd, Sheffield (1835-1894) starting electroplating c. 1849. The firm used the trade mark BRISBANE SILVER. Succeeded by James Deakin & Son Ltd. The firm used the trademark BRISBANE SILVER.
Height - Just under 8 inches
Circumference - 19 inches
Good solid used condition - all decorative work very clear - no dents or dings or restoration work - small hole to one eye of the KIWI - some plate loss in places all of which is commensurate with age and usage
