This is a stunning and rare ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN solid sterling silver bachelor teapot that was made in Sheffield, England in 1902 by the illustrious Victorian silversmiths, Henry Stratford Limited at their Harwood Street workshops. It has a fabulous and elegant Victorian oval baluster shape, an ebonisedhandle and finial, half reeded sides and is raised on an oval base. It is NOT engraved. It measures 5" high to the top of the handle, is3 3/4" deep by8 5/8" long from handle to spout. It is very substantial - it weighs325.2 grams - that isvirtually 10 1/2 troy oz. Its capacity is over a full 1 imperial pint!!!!
It is in very good condition for its age with less than the usual surface scratching but NO dents and only a few dings - see photographs - with NO splits or repairs -SUPERB. The lid fits well with NO spring, the handle is fruit wood as is the finial and both are firm. It is hallmarked with H.S, crown, lion passant (sterling silver assay mark),k showing that it was hallmarked in Sheffield in 1902. I have shown the hallmarks so that you can make up your own mind.
