This is an ANTIQUE solid sterling silver mustard pot with a hinged lid anda blue glass liner which was made in Birmingham, England in 1913 by the illustrious Victorian silversmiths, George Nathan & Ridley Hayes of Nathan & Hayes at their Icknield Street workshops. It isin a oval shape, hassides pierced in a Greek Key design, a shell thumb piece and has a loop handle. The pot measures2 1/8" high by1 3/8" wide and is 2 7/8" long including the handle. It is NOT engraved. The quality of this mustard pot shows in the weight -36.2 grams (without the liner) - which isalmost 1 1/4troy oz.
It is in very good condition for its age with just the usual surface scratching withlittle distortion, a few dingsbut NO dents - with little play to the hinge and no repairs - SUPERB.The liner is well fitting and clearly originaland in very good condition with no cracks or chips. The pot is hallmarked to the side with G.N over R.H, anchor, lion passant (sterling silver assay mark),o showing that it was hallmarked in Birmingham in 1913.I have shown the hallmark so that you can make up your own mind.
