Antique Victorian Button Up Boots/wedding Shoes Late 1800's W/provenance For Sale
UP FOR offer IS A PAIR OF ANTIQUE VICTORIAN WOMENS WEDDING SHOES/BOOTS. AS YOU CAN SEE THE BOOTS ARE DISCOLORED. THIS I BELIEVE WAS CAUSED BY THE BRIDES FLORAL ARRANGEMENT WHICH WAS KEPT IN THE BOX WITH THE BOOTS. ONE OF THE BOOTS IS ALSO MISSING A BUTTON. THE BOX IS MISSING ONE SIDE TO IT ( DEFINATELY HAS WEAR). WHAT IS INTERESTING THOUGH IS THAT IT HAS A LOVELY PICTURE OF A BRIDE ON THE LID. THE PICTURE LOOKS LIKE A SMALL PAINTING IT IS REALLY NICELY DONE. ( I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS EXACTLY). ALONG WITH THE FLORAL REMNANTS, THERE WERE A FEW WEDDING CARDS IN THE BOX WITH THE BOOTS. THEY ARE DATED 1880. THE FABRIC ON THE BOOTS REMARKABLY IS STILL VERY SOFT AND MOVEABLE ( NOT DRY AND FRAGILE). PERHAPS THEY MAY WITHSTAND A PROFESSIONAL CLEANING ( BUT I WILL LEAVE THAT UP TO THE WINNING buyer IF THEY SO CHOOSE TO DO SO). THE SHOES APPEAR QUITE SMALL, THEY ARE MARKED ON THE INSIDE BUT I DON'T KNOW IF THE 2 IS THE ACTUAL SIZE BECAUSE I THINK THAT IS REALLY SMALL. I THINK THE 2.50 MARKED ON THE BACK OF THE BOX WAS THEIR COST POSSIBLY? WHICH IF SO WAS QUITE A BIT AT THAT TIME. I PURCHASED THESE AT A SALE, THE COUPLE HOLDING THE SALE PURCHASED AN OLD VICTORIAN HOME AND HAPPENED TO FIND THESE UP ON A SHELF IN A CLOSET. I FOUND THEM UNIQUE AND THOUGHT IT WAS PRETTY AMAZING THAT THEY WERE STILL INTACT WITH WEDDING CARDS FROM THE TIME PERIOD AS WELL. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK. THANKS FOR LOOKING!
