AN EXTREMELY BEAUTIFUL FULLY WORKING CIRCA 1880-90 SOLID 900 FINE SILVER SOUGHT AFTER FABULOUSLY DECORATED ENAMELED DIAL FOB WATCH.

A STUNNING HIGH END WATCH BY BAUME AND MERICER. POSSIBLY WITH A LONGINES MOVEMENT.

CASE:

The 3 piece case to this beautiful watch is solid 900 FINE silver. It is in minty condition. It has a beautiful Acanthus leaf and flower engraved pattern all over the case. The case edges have a coin edge finish. I can see no dings to the case. All covers snap to well. The case is signed B&Co with 3 stars imressed into the silver (Baume and Co). I have gently polished the case, and it is shining wonderfully, as only hi grade silver can. The SOLID SILVER dust cover is in good condition with a slight normal wear scratches to it. It has a beautiful engraving which says 'Drayton Chard du Geneva' The inside of the case back shows a few light marks. THE WATCH MEASURES 3.6CMS (36mm) IN DIAMETER. The hinges to the front and rear show no signs of abuse. The inside of the back cover is fully hall marked for solid 900 Fine silver.

DIAL:

This lovely collectible watch has a STUNNING original snow white and enamelled dial It is signed 'Drayton', and is showing NO damage or hairlines that I can see. It has beautiful sharp and crisp Roman black painted numerals. The stunning outer chapter ring is beautifully and extremely ornately designed with gold enamel and blue and red enamel jewels around it. Everything is crisp and clear with no apparent wear. The dial is also enamelled to its centre with a continuation of the outer design.The crystal is flush fitting, and is in excellent condition showing just light wear. The beautiful antique spade style watch hands are dark steel and are in excellent condition.

MOVEMENT:

This is a lovely condition Swiss made FULLY signed key wind and set HIGH END bar cylinder movement. This movement is probably a LONGINES movement looking at its quality. It is signed by Baume and Co. The watch runs, and started to tick after two turns of the key. It has been oiled and checked. The watch keeps good time as tested over a 24 hour period. As always, a service would be recommended for optimum timekeeping and performance. It winds smoothly, and the key setting works as it should. The chain ring is solid silver a little loose fitting but is entirely original to the watch! A key will be supplied so that it can be used straight away!

Please remember that vintage watches have survived for many decades by being treated well. Vintage watches are not for wearing while doing yard work, working out, or swimming. Vintage watches cannot keep time like their quartz cousins and will need altering on average between +-2 to +-5 mins per day. They are a little more destructible than modern watches. Vintage watches also require periodic service and cleaning. Every couple of years, they would like their 20,000 mile checkup, oil change, and general service. By taking care of your vintage watch, you will have years of great service, and a quality heirloom to pass to another generation.
