This is an antique/vintage German Santa riding an antique/vintage German putz donkey. They are in good vintage condition with a few flaws to point out. Both are signed (pictures 8 & 10). The Santa measures 4.5\" in length when fully extended (picture 7). He measures 2\" in width through the arms.He is about 1.25\" in depth. He almost stands, but one leg is a bit longer than the other. Still, with patience, he can be made to stand on his own. The legs are bendable wire with black composition boots. He has clay hands and face with hand-painted features and a white rabbit fur mustache and beard. He wears a red felt jacket and hood trimmed in white, and blue felt pants. The arms are also bendable. In his right hand, there is a tiny hole in which the stem of a tiny crepe paper \"tree\" is held. The only flaw I see is a bit of fading on the front of the blue pants, and some light overall soil. The donkey is composition with stick legs. He measures 4.5\" in length from nose to tail, 4\" in height to the top of the ears, and 1.25\" in width. He has an adorable face (picture 9), and a ropey tail (picture 11). There has been some repairs to the legs, to what extent I don\'t know. But, you can see that the legs have been repainted because they are a different shade of gray than the body. In picture 11, you can see that there is a chip and a crack at the top of the right back leg where it meets the body. In picture 12, you can see 2 surface cracks where the legs meet the body. However, all of the legs are sturdy with no wobble. The Santa and the donkey are so cute together, but they are separate pieces and can be used in other settings.
