Antique/vintage Indian Architectural Reclaimed Shuttered Doors. Bikaner School.:
Antique Indian Shuttered Doors. Finished in a red, green, yellow and silver colour palette.Architectural salvage from the interior of a haveli in Bikaner, where they were once part of a set of cupboard doors.

Works of art in their own right.
These beautiful antique shuttered doors started life insidea grand haveli, a wealthy merchant's mansion, in the Rajasthan ciy of Bikaner. Bikaner, of course, being the vibrant, dust swirling desert town surrounded by the Thar Desert, with an energising outpost feel to it. And famous for its school of miniature painting, noted for depicting the highest density of Mughal images and motifs of all the Indian schools of painting.
Reclaimed from architectural salvage, made from the tropical hardwood teak and lovingly restored, these doors draw on this rich artistic tradition, and make a great decorative statement hung as a piece of art.
We have managed to source three identical sets of these doors from the same salvage rescue project. Though a matching pair are available separately on this listing, a third example has the addition of the deities Krishna & Radha added in a silver outline.
In a previous incarnation, we are reliably informed they were once a set of highly decorated interior cupboard doors and probably date to the late 19th century, or early 20th century. But such is their patination, they could possibly be earlier? SEE SEPARATE LISTING FOR THE THIRD EXAMPLE WITH THE DEITIES ADDED.
There is a recess to the rear of the the frame which could accomodate the addirtion of a mirror if desired. (SEE IMAGE 11.) Though the doors don't fold right back when opened, but open 90 degrees.
Please look carefully at the photographs as they form part of the description.
