Antique Vintage Old Scottish Putter Wood Wooden Head Mallet Golf Club :
A wooden headed mallet putter from Harry Roffe of Longcliffe, Loughborough. Nice solid wood headed mallet putter putter with no chips or cracks in the head or neck area. This maker is documented in Pete Geogiady’s book ‘The Compendium of British Club Makers as being at Longcliffe from 1914 to 1932. This is an early metal shafted putter and would date circa 1930. The shaft has an intact wood grained plastic sheathing over a stepless steal shaft. The stampings are all still clear. Leading edge of the ram’s horn slip plate with just a few scant play nicks, nothing bad by any means. I believe someone squared off the toe end of this putter after it left the shop of Mr. Roffe. Ram’s horn slip plate remains undamaged. Wood face is nick free. Straight shaft is the original and has no dents of bends. Intact leather wrap grip is of the period and with intact whippings. Grip could well be the original and the leather is not dry. Has a large lead back weight with nice patina. 34 ½ inches in total club length. Please see my other wood shafted and vintage collectible golf clubs. Some are quite rare. Also listingcollectiblePING putters on a regular basis. All without reserve. THANKS!
